Winning is in the blood
Eve Johnson Houghton trains at historic Woodway on the downs in Blewbury, Oxfordshire; where the Johnson Houghton family has trained and bred racehorses for over fifty years.

With a pedigree full of “black type” Eve certainly has the right credentials for the job – by a trainer, out of a champion lady jockey, grand-daughter to two trainers and great-niece of champion trainer Fulke Walwyn.

Woodway is quietly situated high up on the downs above Blewbury, well away from the hurley burley of the large training centres.

The yard offers everything that the modern trainer needs, with outstanding private facilities, dedicated, loyal staff and a wealth of family knowledge and experience to tap into; it’s little wonder that Eve has hit the ground running.

The privately owned gallops are what dreams are made of and are quite simply second to none. The ’old turf’ grass gallops extend to over 200 acres and have been nurtured for generations; these are backed up with modern all weather facilities, ensuring that the horses can be kept on the go whatever the weather. It is easy to see why so many winners have been trained here.
