Keeping Busy

Now that the dust has settled following last Sunday's Yearling Parade (which seems to have a big build up every year and is then over in a flash!) we are focused back on our normal routines. We currently have 18 Yearlings in and soon to be 19 on Monday when we are looking forward having a colt by Dark Angel x Mosuo arrive. He is from the family of Oaks winner Light Shift and Eclispe & Juddmonte International winner Ulysses....hopefully he can follow in their footsteps over the next couple of seasons. All the Yearlings are being ridden away around the downs and have begun doing light canters and seem to be adapting to their new surrounds really nicely. After being purchased from the sales - the majority of the Yearlings began their early education with Hetta Stevens, Hen Knight and Claire Bonner before arriving at Woodway all well behaved and ready to be ridden away.....to the delight of our riders!

Next week sees the start of the Tattersalls December Mare Sale and we currently have 2 entries for the sale. We will be sad to see HYANNA and SO BRAVE head off to Newmarket on Tuesday (selling Wednesday) as both fillies are a pleasure to deal with especially 5-time winner Hyanna who wears her heart on her sleeve and is always in with a shout in the closing stages of her races. She arrived at our yard a couple of years ago with a rating of 71 which has since rocketed to 94 and we wish her well whatever the outcome of the sale brings. We have her Yearling half sister by Havana Gold to look forward and fingers crossed she'll have inherited Hyanna's will to win!

We still have a spare couple of brochures left from our Yearling Parade and if you would like a copy please email liam@johnsonhoughton.com with your contact details.
