We already have a few winners on the board early doors this year. The latest being courtesy of the ever reliable Goring gaining his eleventh career win under a well judged ride from Charlie Bishop - producing him late to grab the honours at Lingfield last Saturday. The evergreen 8 year old relishes the All-Weather, a fast pace to aim at and has now taken his career earnings to nearly £175,000!...hopefully we can find a few more like him amongst this year's Two Year Olds.
Talking of the Two Year Olds, they are all coming along nicely and had their first bunched canter on the grass yesterday. A pecking order will soon become apparent of which ones might be ready to run sooner than others. They will all have their first stalls intro in March and their workload will begin to be gradually increased.
Old favourites Hyanna, Ice Age and Tin Hat have come back in from their Winter holiday at Costa Del Lockinge under the care of Hen Knight, who spoils them rotten and they always come back to us looking a million dollars....all refreshed for the season ahead!
We are hoping to maintain our good strike rate at Newcastle later today as Kwela set off yesterday morning to make the long journey. Georgia Dobie rides her and the pair have struck up a good rapport since last year.
Entries for our annual 5 to follow competition...which has now become a 6 to follow are open and all entries must be received by 12pm on Saturday 28th March. If you would like to take part entries cost £10 per list and for more info/rules please email liam@johnsonhoughton.com
