The wheels keep turning here at Woodway with all roads leading to a return of racing hopefully on the horizon. The horses remain oblivious to the situation and are all thriving during lock down!
Over the past week we have moved the horses on to the Pond Gallop for work mornings which we would normally have been using in mid March, so that made a nice change to the routine of the horses and riders. As always our Gallops man Paul Pritchard continues to do a sterling job of maintaining all the gallops and always has them looking in peak condition for work mornings.
Another positive this week was that we had Gary and Craig Witheford visit the yard to give our 2yos their first stall intro – all behaved brilliantly and of course social distancing guidelines were adhered to.
Eve kindly organised a Pizza van to deliver Pizzas to all the staff on site and those living in Blewbury as a thank you for all their hard work and a 'pick me up' during the lock down period – as you can imagine this went down a real treat with everyone!
One final note, I am very pleased to report long serving Head Lad Will Reddy is moving a lot better now following his knee surgery back in November. He has been going on the walker daily and may be ready to start cantering again soon! In his absence senior staff Georgina Scott, John Da Costa and Molly Priddle have been a great support to Eve making sure all has been running smoothly over the past few months.
