We have witnessed some nice performances so far this month from our horses. It was great to see JUMBY score in fine style at the first time of asking at Ascot securing his owners the Plus 10 bonus in the process – boosting his winning prize money. He’s a scopey horse who should make up into a fine 3yo but hopefully there will be more fun to have with him this year. Talking of fine scopey horses, gentle giant RIDGEWAY showed his rivals a clean pair of heels when scoring at Bath. He rewarded Eve’s patience as he needed time to fill his very large frame in his 2yo days so she kept him under wraps until this season. He had a good educational run before the lock down which stood him in good stead for his Bath win. Bath is turning out to be a lucky track for us this season as ALEZAN also scored there gaining her deserved first success under a confident ride from Georgia Dobie.
As the lock down limitations are easing, it has been brilliant to have our owners back for stable visits and last week we welcomed one of our Eden Racing syndicates who own the admirably consistent TIN HAT. Even though Tin Hat was resting after his run earlier in the week, we took his owners up for 3rd lot to watch the horses canter then we had a catch up in the garden over a cup of coffee. Our Eden syndicates have been running for nearly 20 years and are usually made up of ten 10% shares. We have had a lot of fun along the way and Tout Seul was the first horse to carry the Red silks in the early 2000’s when trained by Eve’s Father Fulke. Eve purchased him from the sales and set up the inaugural syndicate and we are very pleased to say that some of the original shareholders are still involved in Eden Racing to this day. Tout Seul couldn’t have been a better first horse for Eden Racing as he ended his 2yo campaign winning the Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket and then went on to be 4th behind Refuse To Bend in the 2,000 Guineas. Lunar Deity, Ice Age and the aforementioned Tin Hat to name a few have also carried the red silks with distinction in recent years. We also have our Eden Racing club which has 3 horses running under its banner (Hedging, Buto and Uncle Dick)and is our opening level of ownership. We have around 15 members and always room for more! A year’s membership is £750 which will give you the experience of being an owner without the larger financial outlay. We have had over 50 ‘Eden winners’ over the years and we looking forward to adding many more to that total over the next few seasons. Eve will be purchasing a Yearling or two from the sales for the Eden Racing syndicates so if you would like to state an interest in having a 10% share or if you would like some more info on the Eden Racing Club please email liam@johnsonhoughton.com
