Sunday 21st July 2019 marked the 50th Anniversary since our Head Lad William Reddy started here at Woodway and we held a celebratory Barbecue cooked by Fulke who did a sterling job as Head Chef - not a cremated Burger in sight! This was a combined celebration for all the staff as we were so busy on the runners front during 'Racing Staff Week' to hold a get-together. To the delight of Will's Great Nephew Archie - we had a penalty shoot out which seems to have become a tradition at staff parties - even though last year was it's inaugural year! A good time was had by all and many a bottle drank!
On Saturday we held our annual 'Eden morning' where all our Eden Syndicates and Club members meet to see their horses on the Gallops. We started the morning with a gathering in the main house and refreshments served by Doi Doi who was Eve and Gordon's Nanny back in the day! She keeps us all in line and also helps out at our Yearling Parade. It was great to see the usual suspects and welcome some new faces to Woodway. Typically the weather turned as we headed towards the All-weather gallop but luckily everyone came prepared with wellies and brollies and didn't dampen the enthusiasm.
