Last week-end was an eye-opener. Going on the Morning Line was absolutely terrifying, it was most unsettling sitting next to a consumate professional such as Jeremy Kyle and then looking down at the monitor and seeing myself looking rather startled and much like a bunny in headlights. However, they were all very kind and according to feedback, I didn’t look too much of a fool.
Sadly, Fontley came into season and didn’t run her race, so all that lovely publicity went out the window, luckily Orientalist did his bit and won his third race of the season in the nursery. Eddie gave him a great ride, in the process giving me a heart attack, but got up to win rather cheekily in the end. He was due to run yesterday at Newmarket, but the ground was rather sticky so I decided to give it a miss.
Tomorrow is going to be hectic. We have got 8 runners spread over 3 different meetings, so it could be chaos. I think my best chances are at Warwick with Kingarrick & Kyncraighe, although there are others with chances too. Normally, when I have multiple runners it all goes tits up and I end up with no winners. I am praying that doesn’t happen tomorrow. I will be going to Bath, where we have a selection of not so good horses running, complete with a lot of gear. Blinkers, cheek pieces and tongue ties. Lets hope they have the desired effect on at least one of them!
